Compassionate Psychological Services Tailored to You
“For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin–real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be got through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid, then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life.” – Dr. Alfred D’Souza

What types of therapy do you specialize in?
I use an integrative approach that is conversational, individualized, and grounded in psychological science. My philosophy is to help each person I encounter move toward being their most authentic and loving self. I have training and experience in psychodynamic, relational, systems, cognitive-behavioral, and strengths-based approaches among others. I have specialized in working with LGBTQ+ people / issues throughout my career, and I am a certified Queer and Trans Affirming Professional. I also specialize in seniors / issues of aging. I most commonly work with issues such as grief, anxiety, depression, and relationship concerns.
How can I schedule an appointment with Dr. Johnson-Ford?
Appointments can be booked by calling me at (512) 842-2223, or by email. Established patients may use my online practice management portal: https://api.portal.therapyappointment.com/n/public/clientRegistration?therapistId=11eca5966b031cfdbdc00eb9c2fff873
Do you offer in-person visits? What about telehealth?
Yes, and yes. I offer in-person appointments at my Orange Park, Florida office, as many people appreciate the 3-dimensional experience. I also offer virtual appointments in order to provide flexible and convenient access to care.
Medicare currently covers telehealth appointments for mental health care without restriction. In the future – as early as February 2026 – they may allow a waiver to expire and that would mean a requirement that initial visits are in person, with no exceptions, along with one in-person visit annually, with some exceptions. Our professional groups are strongly advocating for the continued availability of telehealth for mental health care with no in-person requirement – leaving that instead to the doctor-patient relationship to determine.
What insurance do you accept?
I accept traditional Medicare. I can also accept Medicare Advantage PPO plans but will be out-of-network. If you have an insurance plan for which I am out-of-network, I will provide the necessary information on request, for you to file your own claim for reimbursement. If you have a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) it can be used for psychotherapy expenses.
